Solar Installer/ Mechanic

Role Overview:
- The Solar Installer / Mechanic is responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining residential and commercial solar PV systems. This role works closely with electricians and project managers to ensure systems are installed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

System Installation

- Assemble and install solar panels, racking systems, and mounting hardware on roofs, ground mounts, and other structures.

- Assist electricians with conduit runs, wire pulls, and equipment placement.

- Ensure all components are securely mounted and weatherproofed.

Mechanical Work & Site Prep

- Measure, cut, and fit structural components.

- Perform roof penetrations, flashing, and sealing to ensure leak-free installation.

- Operate basic hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment safely.

Quality & Safety

- Follow OSHA and company safety standards on all job sites.

- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

- Perform quality checks to verify proper alignment, spacing, and secure attachment of panels.

Support & Maintenance

- Assist with system inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.

- Perform routine maintenance such as tightening connections, cleaning panels, and replacing hardware.

- Communicate any installation issues or site concerns to supervisors.

Teamwork & Documentation

- Work as part of a crew under the direction of a lead installer or foreman.

- Provide support in loading/unloading materials, staging equipment, and site cleanup.

- Document progress and report daily activities to the project manager.


Qualifications & Skills:

- Experience in construction, roofing, or mechanical trades preferred.

- Basic understanding of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical assembly.

- Ability to work at heights, on roofs, and in outdoor conditions.

- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform repetitive tasks.

- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn solar installation best practices.

- OSHA or solar installation training/certifications are a plus.
